Looking Forward...

Well Christmas as very quiet here as we had lots of snow and the roads weren't driveable.  Everyone loved their presents.  We are now looking forward to 2011.  I have been stitching ornaments for the ornament exchange next October at the Pals Fall Fling.  I don't usually stitch any, but I have a head start this year and have one completed and two that are almost done too.
This is Lizzie Kate's design from JCS Ornament issue 2002.  I didn't have the silver heart charm, so I used a little bell button that I found in my stash, I think it turned out pretty cute.

Will add photos of the other two when they are finished.  I've had really good fun stitching these ornaments this year.  I used Victorian Motto sampler threads and fabric from Lakeside Linen, I won a prize at the Cross Stitch Pals Fall Fling, that consisted of ornament cuts of linen and a huge selection of threads in greens, reds and golds from the Victorian Motto.

Hope everyone has a good 2011.

Teenage Boys....

My eldest son put on his kilt last night to discover that it was too short.  I had been nagging at him since October to try it on so that if it need altering that it could be done in plenty of time for his School dance on Friday evening.  So 2 nights before the dance he tries it on.  I have spent 5 hours unpicking the hem, stitching it up and pressing the pleats back in.  This kilt has 7 yards of fabric in it and the hem is hand stitched.  The dance is tomorrow night, weather permitting.  I plan to take a photograph of all 3 boys in their kilts ready to go.  Watch out for it this weekend.  Now tonight I can do some of my own stitching.

Fiona

Sorry no photograph, the dance has been postponed due to the weather. We have snow, didn't have my camera with me, but a photograph of the 'sneach' (a snow covered beach) according to DS#3, would have been really nice.

Third snow day...

There has been no school for the kids nor work for DH and I this week yet.  We have had quite a bit of snow and this is now day 3.   Yesterday I made curtains for Jordan's bedroom and a cushion cover for my sitting room.  Today I baked some shortbread, mini muffins and scones.  The boys were well pleased with the baked goodies, hopefully they will last longer than a day!!!  I now plan on stitching some on my Victoria Sampler Etui.  Progress has been slow, but I plan on stitching some later today.  Here is a picture of  my progress so far.

The picture is not great, but this is a big piece.

Thanks for the comments you have left.

Trying to Post picture

I thought I would give posting photographs a try.  I have picked most of this year's finishes.  The first design is Mirabilia's Sleeping Beauty.  I stitched her on a Silkweaver fabric, the name eludes me at the moment.  If this is a successful post, I will try and post a progress picture of my Victoria Sampler Etui.

This year I also stitched Mira's Sunflower Fairy from an issue of Just Cross Stitch Magazine.  It was stitched on Hand Dyed Heaven's Twist, this is a UK company that does some lovely hand dyed fabric.

As you may have guessed from all my photographs I love Mirabilia designs.  I very rarely stitch any small designs, so my finishes are few and far between.  These are most of my finishes for 2010.

This Design was stitched on a pink toned Silkweaver fabric.  I stitched it as a gift for a friend who had a baby girl.  Unfortunately, I have put it in a safe place and haven't been able to give it to the friend yet.  When it is no longer in the safe place I will have it framed and pass it on, hopefully before the baby is too old.

The final photograph that I am posting is Mira's Daisy again stitched on Hand Dyed Heaven fabric, I kind of forget the names of the fabrics, it is a kind of pale blue/green.  Hopefully everyone has enjoyed looking at some of my finishes.

Hello

After reading everyone's blogs I thought I would start one to keep track of my stitching and other things.

At the moment I am stitching on Victoria Samplers, Count your Blessings Etui, which I started in Myrtle Beach at the Pals Fall Fling.  At the moment I have finished the first stitched part and am now starting the 2nd vine area.

Being new to blogging I will post a pic when I figure it out.
